Welcome to #OPTECH17!
There is almost no better place to attend a conference than the heart of wine country in Napa, California. One would be hard-pressed to find a more unique and meaningful self-storage gathering for all self-storage owners than the event hosted by the California Self-Storage Association (CSSA) in Napa every spring. The event has a new name to reflect its reputation of cutting edge programing for all small, mid-size and large storage owners and operators.
Technology is driving changes in self-storage consumer expectations and facility operations. Therefore, the event’s official title is now the Self-Storage Owners Operations & Technology Conference (OPTECH). Next April, OPTECH 17 will highlight the newest industry trends in operations and technology. With such a unique name as OPTECH, the hash tagging will be endless!
Napa’s proximity to Silicon Valley provides a unique opportunity to attract informative speakers sharing cutting-edge content focused on “need-to-know” operational topics and technology trends. Last year, a Silicon Valley venture capitalist Jillian Manus shared with attendees why she believes the self-storage industry is failing to address changing consumer expectations. Her industry has targeted over $400 million toward the disruption of the self-storage business model through investments in technology driven valet-style storage businesses such as clutter.com and closetbox.com.
“We were all surprised by the commitment of the technology firms in disrupting the self-storage industry” said Erin King, executive director of the CSSA. According to King, the overwhelmingly positive event feedback showed that the Napa event was the only conference in the nation solely focused on operations and technology. “Our proximity to Silicon Valley and technology firms allows us to bring quality speakers interested in sharing new consumer and technology trends and they impact both the small and large self-storage operators.”
Due to the event’s popularity, OPTECH17 will be relocated to the world-famous Silverado Resort & Spa April 26-28, 2017. The larger venue offers more meeting room and hotel room capacity. The Silverado Resort and its two golf courses are owned by the world famous golfer and NBC Golf announcer Johnny Miller.
Many attendees and their significant others return each year to enjoy the private wine tours and tastings. Past wine tours and tastings were hosted by the proprietors of Rambauer Winery, DelDotto Winery, and Flora Springs Winery.
“We feel our new name, OPTECH17, accurately describes the unique, need-to-know self-storage operational and technology content that makes this event the best of its kind in self-storage,” said King. “Because this conference has grown so much and become so popular, we are also excited to be moving to the wonderful Silverado Resort & Spa. Our new location allows us to continue our partnership with our non-profit charitable partner Kure It who will provide fun networking opportunities while raising money for cancer research.”
So grab your calendars and ink it in. It will be fun, educational and inspirational – and not to be missed!
