Five Year Old Organization Makes a Big Impact by Awarding $250,000 through a Partnership with the AACR

Newport Beach, CA, July 2012: Kure It, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting underfunded cancer research, will partner with the AACR to award $250,000 through a competitive grants process. The AACR-Kure It Grant for Kidney Cancer Research represents a joint effort to promote and support innovative cancer research. Independent investigators will be invited to apply for funding to develop and study novel ideas and approaches that have direct application and relevance to kidney cancer patients. The funding will cover a two year period, and the project will be selected by an expert panel of kidney cancer specialists assembled by the AACR.

The AACR is the oldest and largest scientific organization in the world focused on every aspect of high-quality, innovative cancer research. The organizations share the goal of creating a grant program that has lasting value and high prestige within the world of science and beyond. Both organizations are committed to sustaining the grant in a collaborative fashion to award research dollars to the most promising kidney cancer research project. Karen Jones, Director of Kure It, stated, "We are proud to be joining hands with an organization as well respected as the AACR, and look forward to putting these dollars to work in the lab. Those who support Kure it can be sure their gifts will have a larger reach and impact through the partnership.”

As the cosponsor and grant administrator, the AACR will conduct a competitive grant application process. The grant will be awarded to a project that demonstrates innovative translational research designed to improve the survival and quality of life for patients with kidney cancer, leads to individualized therapeutic options for treatment, or focuses on the development of promising new cancer therapeutics for kidney cancer. More information about the grant opportunity is available on the AACR website. Applications will be accepted until noon ET on August 21, 2012.
