Summary of Changes to the California Self-service Storage Facility Act The California legislature has passed and Governor Brown has signed a self storage lien law reform measure (AB 983). The new law will go into effect on January 1, 2015 and will provide self storage operators with an additional remedy when delinquent tenants store vehicles, boats or trailers. THIS SUMMARY OUTLINES THE CHANGES ASSOCIATED WITH AB 983 WHICH WILL BECOME EFFECTIVE ON JANUARY 1, 2015.
