DEALING WITH DIFFICULT CUSTOMER SITUATIONS

July 8, 2020 (two sessions available):

9:00am - 12:00pm & 1:00pm - 4:00pm

In this 3 hour professional development training, attendees will:

  • Engage in a real-world interaction with a “difficult client” using immersive simulation. Discussion, debate and feedback will help participants determine what to do in various situations and provide additional strategies for working with difficult customers. Come talk to an avatar!
  • Participate in interactive activities around business communications. These include active listening, using social media, providing descriptive feedback, and identifying strategies to use with common business-related issues.

SIMPACT Immersive Learning is a mixed reality simulation system that provides a highly realistic virtual platform for practice in business negotiations, sales techniques, conflict resolution, and many other interpersonal interactions. 

SIMPACT is the perfect bridge between the classroom and the real business world. Participants will learn techniques on how to deal with difficult customers in this course, then get a chance to practice those skills in the SIMPACT Immersive Learning system before implementing them in actual self storage situations. Participants will either be in the "Interactive Participant" seat and deal with a realistic situation with the avatar customer, or sit as a participant observer and evaluator. Participants report that the SIMPACT simulator is more effective, more realistic, and more useful than traditional classroom role-play or webinar format.

    Both sessions are facilitated by Dr. Wendy Murawski, author and expert in collaboration and communication. Wendy W. Murawski, Ph.D. is the Executive Director and Eisner Endowed Chair for the Center for Teaching and Learning at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), where she is also a full professor in the Department of Special Education. Dr. Murawski is the Director of SIMPACT, an immersive learning simulation experience. Dr. Murawski has won many awards for her teaching, research and publications, to include Teacher Educator of the Year in California and Outstanding Faculty Member for her university.
