CSSA 2027 Board Nominations
The Board of Directors for the California Self Storage Association (CSSA) is a very important position. Board members direct all activities through the CSSA Strategic Business Plan that they produce at the beginning of each year. Committees carry out the goals and objectives of this plan, but it is the Board that sets the direction, tone, and is ultimately responsible for all activities of the organization. The Board meets quarterly virtually, and holds a 2 ½ day in-person Board Retreat and Strategic Planning session each October or November. Terms run for 3 years and BOD members may apply to repeat up to 3 terms (total of 9 years). However, BOD members may step down at any time throughout their term(s).
CSSA Board members are required to serve on at least one committee and are expected to contribute with ideas, suggestions, contacts (where necessary), and support CSSA activities. Keeping the Board balanced, we will be looking for members with certain skillsets. This year we are looking for the following specific skillsets:
- Leadership – experience and ability in leading organizations with diverse membership/interests
- Strategic Thinking – can see the big picture and help steer the association to meet challenges
- Connections/Influence – understands issues in self storage and has relationships within the industry or business community that can benefit CSSA
- Government Affairs/Advocacy – Understanding of, or passion for (and ability to quickly learn) about legislation, regulation, political relationships
“We are looking for doers - individuals with industry knowledge who are actively involved in CSSA.”
If you feel you are qualified and would like to be considered, please complete this application and submit by September 10, 2026.
